Masters Week 2022: “Off Course” Activities- Aiken, SC

Augusta Master Golf Guests Visit Aiken,

It’s that time of year, the famous Augusta Masters golf tournament is upon us. Augusta is not the only happening place to be.

Aiken, SC is abuzz with activities as golf enthusiasts from around the world choose Aiken as one of the preferred places to stay since it is not only charming, it’s a short 30 minutes’ drive the Augusta National golf course.

If you are in town, discovering what makes Aiken, South Carolina the “Best Small Town in the South” will be easy.

Grab one of these cool “Maps of Aiken” located various places in Downtown Aiken that has an array of maps to get you around town.

YOU can Shop Historic Aiken downtown to experience true Southern Hospitality. There is a range of unique boutiques and stores. A must visit is always Lionel Smith’s a fine men’s clothing store.

At night, tourists can indulge in craft cocktails with live music while mingling with fellow US Masters tour guests or with the locals.

Aiken has no shortage of great places to dine and drink. There are 27 noted on the Downtown Aiken map. One of the newest is Neon Fig and do seek out Rose Hill Estate a few blocks off Laurens Street, you will be glad you did; these are not on the map.

Tuesday April 5^th 2022 attend Aiken Art Walk. Held 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Downtown Aiken. This will be the 11th Annual Aiken Courses Art Walk.  The sidewalks will be lined with performing artists, visual artists, craft vendors and more.

You have Double your options on Thursday night. The Amp the Alley is a free concert series in the Alley and is local’s place to be. Do you prefer Jazz?  Make your way to the famous Willcox Inn for a Night of Jazz.

Walking around downtown Aiken you will see colorful, as well as creatively designed horse sculptures. We were at the Aiken Center for the Arts, located on Laurens Street we saw “Splendor in Glass” an original from a successful charity fund raiser event called “Horse Play”.  There was 32 in all; each were unique and playful in their design.  Helpful Tip to find them…. use your Horse Sculpture map, located within the Maps of Aiken. Note not all are from the event “Horse Play” but still fun to discover.

Now in back of this handy map, there are more activities by each day. We only shared a few of the many reasons why Aiken is voted the best small town in the South.

Be aware when visiting Aiken, SC lots of people fall in love with the community, its culture, the friendly people and make it their home, that happened to me many years ago.

Hopelands Concert Series 2022- Aiken, SC

Spring is around the corner…the signs are everywhere. Blue skies, birds chirping, yards BURSTING with SPRING color and on Monday’s… Music fills the air. Be right back to share the scoop on this free public event.

Isn’t this magical, even enchanting? I’m tucked behind a unique serpentine brick wall, under a canopy of ancient Oaks, mature Deodars and stunning Magnolias. This was a historic 14-acre private estate which was donated to the city.

I’m here in the gardens and wanted to share with you one of my favorite places and upcoming event.

Welcome to the labyrinth at Hopelands Gardens. Isn’t this cool?

When life gets complicated, I, along with many people like to unwind with a meaningful meander through a labyrinth. These circular walkways are symbolic of life's many expeditions - the journey from outer turmoil to inner peace.

Now to add to your life’s pleasure, I want to share the good news that the Hopelands Concert Series returns starting April 4th and runs thru June 27th, held every Monday at 6:30 or 7 PM.

Vikki and I love our Aiken community and believe strongly in giving back. For numerous years we sponsor a performance, we are continuing that tradition and will be opening up the concert series on April 4th at 6:30m with “The River Winds Clarinet Quartet”. There are 13 different events in this year’s series.

NOW…. What do you need to bring? YOURSELF, friends or family, a lawn chair or blanket for seating, maybe picnic dinners and something to drink but sorry no alcohol. The concert series is family friendly and there is no cost to attend.

There is Event parking is provided across the street from Hopelands Gardens at the Green Boundary Club 780 Whiskey Road. There is handicap parking is available at Rye Patch on Berrie Road.

Langley Pond Park Reopens- Aiken, SC

Looking for breath of fresh air, some water sports, just a great outdoor recreational place to go right here in Aiken, SC? Stay with US to learn more. We have a beloved park & pond that is full of new and improved features. WOW look at Langley Pond Park, now.

Known as the world’s largest pond. It’s 300 acres. As many locals know it was the pond was closed for repairs due dam break many years back but check it out know. We have been anxiously waiting its return. Kudos to the all worked on this project.

Langley Pond Park is a nationally recognized park and venue in Aiken County, where it is known in the past for its fantastic facilities and events. It just got better and has a bright future.

Best known for numerous local, regional, and national level rowing events, Langley Pond Park quickly became a prominent rowing location before the 1996 Olympics.

Facilities include a boat ramp with new boat dock, swim area, large picnic shelter, grills, bathhouse, playground, and sandy beach.

In fact, the parking area was recently expanded to include trailer parking and additional parking near the picnic shelter.

It’s not just water fun here but has a 2.8-mile Langley Pond Loop Trail installed in 2015 and also equestrian friendly. The Loop Trail features a white-sand trail that winds through the shaded woods of Langley Pond Park.

Into Golf disc… the Langley Pond Disc Golf Park is truly a one a kind disc golf facility. The 18-hole championship level course challenges the best disc golfers in the world.

Langley Pond Park is the perfect place for rowing regattas and winter training, wakeboard, water ski, and jet ski competitions, 5K trail events, triathlons, special events and festivals, fishing contests, along with corporate or family picnics, the list goes on.

Come on out to see Langley Pond Park for yourself and spread the word of its reopening. It’s located at 127 Langley Dam Rd, Warrenville, SC 29851 just off Jefferson Hwy.
