Live + Love Local: Aiken Music Fest

Aiken Music Fest has begun and the emphasis is on having a good time in a family friendly environment.

The music fest brings in touring bands, with original material. They are top notch musicians. Plus, local talent like the singer/songwriter who starts the show off at 7pm.

There is plenty of great, local talent here in Aiken.

There are 6 events and we just attended the first one. It was great to see old friends, make new ones while sitting back and enjoying some awesome music.

Other things to know about Aiken Music Fest... there are food trucks offering a variety of yummy food. Need some shopping therapy? The Aiken County Crafters are at every show.

How would you describe the music? More of rock/blues/jazz/Americana mix

This event is affordable and you can get tickets at the gate for $15. Children under 12 are free. Remember to bring the family.

Here are some tips on how best to enjoy this event:

BYO chairs. There are a few chairs and tables available under the Pavilion.

Tailgates are welcome. But they have beer and wine available plus a food truck at every event, remember its cool to support local.

Pets are welcomed that are well managed and behaved.

Lawn games are encouraged, so get the dust off your corn hole set.

Children will find lots of activities to keep them entertained.

8 Tips to make Your Move Less Stressful + Aiken Home Team Makes a Move

Moving day can be stressful, trust us… we just moved! Stay tuned to learn where to find us now.

We are excited to announce the entire Aiken HOMES Team, their smiling faces with the same exceptional service is now located in the DOWNTOWN Aiken Meybohm office at 142 Laurens St, NW.

We have Eight Expert Tips to help you with your next move.

1. Do a Deep Purge…Get Rid of ALL Unwanted Items.

The benefits of getting rid of unwanted items before the moving truck arrives is obvious. Less to pack, less to physically move to a new location and less to find a home for once you arrive at your new place.

2. Keep All Important Documents in One Place

It is important, to keep all of the documents necessary in one place and accessible on moving day. Best not pack it away in a moving box; rather, find a safe place that will not accidently be packed up. Best practice to keep all your sensitive documents (passports, Social Security cards, marriage certificates, etc.) in a safe place and move this yourself.

3.  Label Your Boxes

Packing by room and labeling is a smart move, this will save precious time when unpacking. We suggest noting contents and numbering the boxes. This way you know which room the box goes in and what is inside. Numbering each box helps you to know if a box goes missing. This eliminates stress in those all-important days and weeks as you and your family are settling in.

4. The Right Size Boxes matters

Smart packers (or people who have moved a lot in one lifetime) know that the properly sized box for what you’re packing makes all the difference. Like wardrobe boxes can make moving lots of clothing much easier. Heavier items are best packed in multiple, smaller boxes and smaller, lighter items such as linens and kitchen utensils can be packed in large boxes and moved with ease.

5.  Cost saving Tip

Reusing old boxes or taking recycled boxes from friends and neighbors. Or checking with your REALTOR if they know any other families who just moved in a home and would like to dispose of their packing boxes. Then pay it forward and offer your moving boxes to another family.

6. Have a plan for Moving day

A moving checklist that contains written tasks that need to be completed before the move can be particularly helpful for staying organized and on track. A great idea is once a room is empty and cleaned, close the door then put painter’s tape on it to signify it’s all clear and cleaned.

7.)  Plan for Additional Costs

Regardless of the way you choose to move, there are also additional costs.

Don’t forget childcare and pet care for example, it eliminates worry to have kids and pets in a safe location then you can focus on the move completely.

Professional cleanings for either the house you’re leaving or moving into.

Storage fees and costs, if you need to move some items into a storage unit.

8.) Pack an Essentials Box. When you arrive at your new residence, your essentials box will be first thing you unpack.Items you may want to include: Medications, cleaning supplies, linens, first aid kit, change of clothes, snacks, First-aid kit, flashlights, garbage bags, pet supplies, basic tools for quick repairs and disposable plates, cups, and eating utensils.

Finally Keep smiling! Moving can be manageable, with the right attitude and thoughtful preparation.

We welcome you to come visit us at 142 Laurens Street NW and if you have a specific real estate goal call us. It’s a big decision, we know. We’re here to help.

3 EASY + Effective Tips to Decluttering, Aiken, SC

Decluttering, for some people is freeing and they actually enjoy the activity. That’s not me… hi, I’m Brandi Cook of Meybohm real Estate of the Aiken HOMES

While many people find it difficult and tedious. It can be made easier with these three effective steps.

#1 Look for support.

Friends and family can be great motivators for getting rid of clutter. Ask them for opinions on what should stay or what should go; they might be happy to receive some family treasures or unwanted items you have been wanting to give away anyway.

Like Uncles’ Harry bowling trophies or the family’s china.

Most importantly if you are considering selling call a REALTOR® skilled in advising you how to clear the clutter. We can be your trusted real estate advisors and have years of experience helping people just like YOU, prepare their homes for home sold success and achieve the best terms and price in any market.

#2 Professional help, may be necessary.

Sometimes the task at hand may be a bit too much for you to handle. Or you are trying to assist a family member who cannot do it for themselves? Years of clutter builds up quickly. You might not be local and may not know who to call. You certainly need a trustworthy resource.

Enlisting professionals might be the best way to go. We meet with our seller clients, listen to their needs and help them with a list of reputable services and charities that can help them through this the time-consuming process. We even have vendors we work with to clean or make repairs to property. This will save you time and make you more money.

#3 Consider your options.

When it’s time to get serious about decluttering, the question is where should the stuff go?

Here are the 4 main options to consider.

Sell. Some items you may want to sell what’s the best way?

Donate. Old clothes you don’t wear, it may be better suited to go that route. Who should you call? Some may pick up.

Store. Consider getting a storage unit off site if you are unsure or do not have the time to deal with getting rid of possessions. This gives you time to look through at your pace and consider your options.

Trash or have it hauled off.  Some items have no real value or are damaged. Old couches are perfect examples, worn clothing and many other items. Sometimes this may be the quickest way to create that much needed decluttered space.

Thinking of selling? We are a responsive, knowledgeable real estate team that helps our clients with the entire process from getting the home ready before going on the market all way to closing and beyond. We have trusted resources and vendors.

It’s a big decision, we know!

We’re here to help.
